It's been a while since we had to start fresh again. It's part of the CGS tradition. So instead of being sad, let's rejoice at the opportunity for a new beginning.
Thanks, Bryan, for getting things going again. As part of this welcome thread, as we are still setting things up and figuring things out, I would love to get some discussion going on the forum set-up and categories, things like that. As I have often said, this place is the place we make it, and as we are very much in the minting phase right now, this is a great time to ask-- How should we make it?
Can the smaller podcasts that don't necessarily need a forum get a thread instead, as from what I gather these forums will be CGS-only? I know there was a catch-all Podcast thread on the old forum, but I always felt a bit lost in the shuffle posting in that.
Also, as a courtesy to those who might not know, you might want to send out an e-mail to those who once had a sub-forum to let them know what happened and what the situation is.
I see no reason why we can't create a category for other podcasts and then each podcast can have a thread in that category. Great idea.
I would love to send an email to the other forum people, except I don't have a list of all the people we hosted for. It sucks, but I don't have any idea who had forums and what their email addresses are.
Here's a tip for all the rash of new signups that will be showing up. When you get the captcha as you sign up, there will be two words - one will be pretty clear (and will probably be an actual word), the other will be all distorted and bent etc (and will probably be gibberish). The distorted and bent one is the one you're actually getting tested on. The clear one is them (whoever "them" is) using the internet to transcribed various documents that have been scanned but they don't have the time to transcribe by hand. So if you just type in "penis" or "poop" or something similar for the clear word, you will be messing with "the man" and you will still get accepted.
Unfortunately though, "they" put the same word up to various people to avoid typos or bastards like me, but if enough people put "penis" for the same word, you never know what would happen.
Nice to see the forum is back! I didn't notice it was gone until Pants mentioned it in the Walking Dead Season 2 episode. Things are looking good thus far!
Right on. You know I've always loved you guys but my casual reader status w/ little interest in the superhero genre has kept me from being a frequent listener/contributor. Glad to see you're keeping the community going. :)
When creating a new account it attempts to redirect you to the forum but you get a Permission Denied message immediately after registering because you need to confirm your email first. Either don't have it redirect or redirect to a page that can be accessed by an unconfirmed user.
Best of luck getting this place configured and setup!
Ahh, you can't choose where the redirect goes? That is strange that it would try to redirect to the forum even though you have the requirement for confirmation on.
Also, not a big issue but the confirmation email as well as the achievement emails come from "brydeemer" not CGS/thecomicforums/etc.
