The 2018 Reading Thread - The Extreme Ultimate Edition- May

A tradition unlike any other! Time for the May reading thread.

The rules as laid down by the great and powerful Torchsong are simple:

Log everything you've read this year. Just edit your existing post or you (and we) will get confused trying to keep up. At the end of each month I'll start a new thread and you can pick a "winner" from your favorite books. You can focus on just trades (which is usually what I do), or just write about the good stuff you've read.

January Winner: The Amazing Spiderman Omnibus vol 2
February Winner: The Walking Dead Compendium vol 2
March Winner: Classic GI Joe vol 5
April Winner: Star Wars: Vader Down (not a great book but the best of a subpar month for me)

May List:

Amazing Spiderman Omnibus vol 3

    January winner: Descender v.1
February winner: Vietnam Journal v.8: Brain Dead Horror
    March winner: Inside Moebius v.1
April winner: TMNT Ultimate Collection v.1
I had never read these Turtle comics before--even though co-creator Kevin Eastman is a Maine native and there's a requirement to read anything that hits big-time from Maine natives up here--and I was surprised how much I enjoyed this and the second collection. The art may be raw, but the stories are fun and Laird & Eastman manage to propel you along, through each story, with an attentiveness to their layouts and visual storytelling that is impressive. Looking forward to reading more!

    May books:
100 Bullets: First Shot, Last Call (v.1)
Michael Chabon's The Escapist: Amazing Adventures (v.1)
    Starman Omnibus v.2
So What That You Can Draw!? The Sketchbook art of Joe Infurnari
Jon Sable, Freelance: Ashes of Eden
    Warlock by Jim Starlin
Nexus: Into the Past and other stories
100 Bullets: Split Second Chance (v.2)
100 Bullets: Hang Up on the Hang Low (v.3)
    TMNT Ultimate Collection v.3
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen v.1
    100 Bullets: A Foregone Tomorrow (v.4)

I'll be willing to keep it going if you don't mind me copying what you wrote in the opening post of this thread. I like what this thread has done so far. I've been attentively keeping my list up to date.

I think I'll be joining you. As someone who enjoys reading books and not burning them, I have no tolerance for censorship.
