  • Oh, no offense taken - and I shouldn't have given the impression I had to nag grandma into taking me. I think it was more a function of my parents having seen it and not feeling the need to see it again - silly people!

I am duly impressed you saw it 100+ times! I don't think movies stick around in theaters long enough anymore for folks to do that.

Yep. that 100+ times was over the course of more than a year. We kept going, they kept showing. It was a different world before home video.

@Bibliomike, @WetRats, I was 11 when SW premiered in Switzerland - I remember using up my theater subscription (yes we had those). So I 'm 100% sure that I saw SW 10 times at the theater back in 1977 (or maybe it was '78, since Switzerland was behind....)

Hey everyone DAR here, but otherwise known as Damon. I started listening right around the time The Dark Knight was released and have been a fan ever since.

Two truths and one lie or one lie and two truths.

    I've never been to California
I was once champion during Teen Week on Jeopardy
I didn't start reading comics until the mid 2000's

hope to get chatting to some of you fine folks.

If #1 is true, which band? Hopefully REM or the Cure!

I'm Geoff. Been collecting (primarily Marvel) comics for 26 years. Big X-book fan, especially New Mutants. Regular monthly pull list at my LCS (Orbital Comics in London) is 47 titles long so have a bit of a backlog for reading.

Started buying DC about 4 months before re-launch. :/ Was going to jump-off at re-launch but being an addict, now have 15 DC titles on my pull-list. Lol.

Slowly getting into digital comics but they'll never replace paper in my eyes.

Forgot my two truths and one lie.

    - ended a relationship over my other-half's lack of understanding and appreciation of comics

    - spent 23 years tracking a Marvel UK comic that my mum gave away to someone thereby meaning my set was incomplete

    - Thought Fear Itself was the greatest universe-altering event ever with its ramifications blasting through the 616-Universe irreversibly and eternally.

Can you spot the lie? Lol.

Hello! My name's Chris. I've been a fan of the show for a while, but I didn't really listen to every episode until I got an iPod with a lot of gigs (I know, my reasoning doesn't make much sense).

    1. I worked at Golden Eagle Comics in Reading, Pa.
    2. I was once involved in a small backyard wrestling organization when I was twelve.
    3. I met Steve Martin and got him to sign my cheese omelet.

  • my names lead sharp on any and all forums, I believe fanboys need a slap and Rob Liefeld is evil.

2 truths and a lie? ok...

    1. My parents met in a monkey cage.

    2. I used to live in a volcano.

    3. I once had a dog called Rover.
  • NickNick Posts: 284

I am guessing the last one is a lie.
Actually #2 was the lie. The ex's name was Larissa Cox (yes that was her name in high school, she was in Playboy in several College Editions). I work for the largest steel company in the world, and the owner was in Indiana when I first started. Back then he was #5 in the world, but since then has lost about 120 billion of his worth (but still worth a lot).

I say #3, and only because a greek omelet would have been better to sign, the Feta would last longer.

Black Umbrella Design - Comics and Creativity

If you're on Facebook, give my Black Umbrella Design page a LIKE if you have one to spare. Take a look at my posts and you'll see a lot of geekdom there.

Since I don't get to hang out in the comic shop anymore (and don't want to since the owner is nuts about politics), CGS is my dose of conversation about comics, and I appreciate that greatly.

    1) I once bit into an electrical cord and blew my mouth open
    2) I have impersonated a security guard and gone on night patrol
    3) I once fell from three stories and landed without injury

That you are avoiding your LCS, because of a nutty owner, is kind of sad AND funny.

Hmmm as a huge geek savants fan I will have to say the first one is a lie. It is well known you love skinny women that look like twigs.
