The issue is sort of an origin story, but... I can't help but feeling that those who haven't read the entire Morrison Bat-saga and committed it to memory might be a bit lost. There were (awesome) callbacks to the "Club of Heroes" arc, from back in... 2007, I think?
It's one of those issues where I wish footnotes or a two-page "How we got here..." guide was part of the experience, if only for other readers who might like to have all the information at their disposal. My advice would always just be "If you feel like you're missing out even slightly on any of this, just read all of Morrison's Batman stuff three times over, pronto."
