So here is an idea.
On Sunday August 17th several of the CGS family are taking part in the Philadelphia Livestrong event and raising money for a worthy cause. The Livestrong foundation supports people affected by cancer and also funds vital research.
I was thinking what if we widen this out to the extended CGS family so we can all mark the day?
Here's how:
1. If you have not already done so head over to
http://www.livestrong.org/fundraising/event/1730/team/2620/ pick a member of Jamie's Avengers and sponsor them.
2. Start making a plan to do your own 5K on August 17th. If you can run 5k (3.1 miles) do that. If you can't but would like to then google "couch to 5k" and you will find lots of training programmes and Apps to help you train.
If you would rather walk or cycle the 5K that's perfectly fine as well
3. Involve family and friends, get them to do 5k with you.
4. Wear your colours. Get out your Cap t-shirt or hat or even the shield itself. If you haven't got one then maybe go to
superherostuff.com (mention CGS when you do, advertisers love that stuff). Or make your own.
5. On the day. Have fun. Run, walk, cycle. Do it with friends. Wear those colours. Wear a smile. Remember the wit and wisdom of Jamie D and how lucky we were to know him. Make a resolution to get some all ages comics into the hands of local kids. Maybe donate them to a school or library. Resolve to meet one of your favourite comic creators and just shake their hand and thank them for their work.
6. Take that selfie. A picture of you and yours in your colours having fun out there. Tweet and facebook those photos with the hashtag #JamiesAvengers (apologies to punctuation pedants). Let's get that trending on the 17th.
7. If you're busy on the 17th then do it the week before, or the month before. The idea is just to have some fun out there in Jamie's memory. Take the picture and tweet it on the day. Or send it to someone else who can tweet for you. Lets see the CGS massive wearing a star and a smile on D-Day
That's it. What do you think? Could we do this?
