  The cybernetic implants were removed during the Star Lord, Annihilation Conquest Mini (?). I can't answer the question about his hair color. Perhaps Gamora likes him as a blonde?

  If I remember correctly it was the Kree who removed all his cyber implants and repaired his body. I think it happened around the Phallanx invasion of the Kree home world

  I could be mistaken, but I thought StarLord was blonde in his original appearances back in the 70's? Maybe they're just correcting his hair color back to the way it was.

  Gotcha. Thanks to all for the clarifications. I read the Annihilation Conquest stuff but I admit it's been quite awhile since the last time I'd done so. I've obviously forgotten quite a few of the details. Time to dig them out and have at it again. :)
