Not yet. But I will. Not sure why it's not doing good. It bombed. An 80% drop from the first movie. I know it's been a long time, but daaaaaaamn

It was okay, a little too much Josh Brolin and not enough Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

What I mean is Josh Brolins section seem to go on too long where I felt that Levitt could have used a little more time.

Plus I felt they wasted some good actors in roles that they were not needed for, Christopher Llyod and Stacy Keach were a waste, much like using Glenn Close in GotG movie.

Years from now, when people pore over disastrous box office numbers, they will indeed be asking "Did anyone see Sin City II?"

I didn't even know this thing was coming out.

I didn't even know this thing was coming out.

Apparently that's a very real problem. Box Office Mojo even mentioned it "anecdotally" in their breakdown of this weekends numbers. Said no one seems to even know about it.

I saw it this afternoon in a nearly empty theater. It wasn't as strong as the first one, but it drew from weaker material. I liked the full adaptation of "A Dame To Kill For" as the center of the movie, but...

Why put out a sequel so many years after the first movie? It really felt like the studio didn't want to bother much with it and just dumped it on the market. Still, there were so many shots that were just frame-able...I'll buy the loaded DVD when it comes out.

If it hadn't been for the news about Eva Green's boob on the movie poster I might not have known this movie was coming out.

    I heart Eva Green.

For those keeping track, this is the second sequel of a Frank Miller adapted comic in 2014, that premeires at least 7 years after the original AND also features naked Eva Green.

My wife dropped the bomb that she hated the first one, so she had zero interest in seeing this one. So it's looking like an eventual Netflixer for me...

She was the best part of the Dark Shadows movie.

I liked the first SIn City at the time, I have no intentions of seeing this one. It's come too late. For me, the visual style has not aged well, and in 2014 I have no interest in revisiting that look.

One review I read noted the difference of results between two noted comic book films this weekend: Guardians kicked butt again by climbing back into the #1 slot, and Sin City II apparently arrived DOA.

    How does that happen?

A buddy of mine works at the local movie theater, so I got to see it for free. Not sure if I would've paid full price if that had been my only option. I had fun watching it with my friends but I'd consider it more of a solid rental.
I will admit every time a character began to monologue about "The City", I had Nam flashbacks to when I saw The Spirit, which I sadly did pay full price for and saw by myself years ago.
While I agree that a few members of the supporting cast were wasted on their roles, I'm slightly more forgiving toward the casting of Christopher Lloyd if for no other reason than that I got to see him on the big screen again in something that wasn't The Oogieloves.

I think the economics for 300 are much better than they are so far for Sin City 2.

I saw it and wrote far too much about it

Bottom Line: 3.5 Stars out of 5. Good movie, the stories weren’t as satisfying from the first one. Liked the visuals, maybe even more than the first. Some of the actor changes made me sad.

Really like the visuals, even after all this time. Some people on various forums, like the reddit machine, have stated the visuals are old hat by now after such a long time. I’m not sure what this means. The green screen effects? Its been done a couple times I guess, like 300 and its sequel, but you could say that of any movie. Do they mean the Black and White, with dashes of color? Some certainly do mean this as they refer to The Spirit as having used the same style. Ok. One movie used a very similar style.

Regardless, I liked them, even better this time as there were a few more dashes of color in peoples clothes, hair, and the casino lights of Basin City. Several shots I’m sure were done to add some depth to the 3D experience (I saw it in 2D), but I think they added nice elements to the regular viewing as well.

I was disappointed by the casting change with Josh Brolin and Clive Owen, especially without Clive making a re-appearance as Dwight after the surgery, but there were a few others. Dennis Haysbert had to replace Michael Clarke-Duncan as Manute because of Clarke-Duncan’s death. That can’t be helped, but it was sad to think about. I don’t know why Miho was no longer played by Devon Aoki, maybe she’s too busy filming the TV show Arrow or something, but it was another disappointment.

Overall, enjoyable experience and I'm about as much of a Sin City fan as I think there could be. Read all the comics, saw the first in theaters, own it, seen it many many times.
