This is very sad. I'm almost at a full loss for words. The Beastie Boys were one the groups integral to opening my ears to music beyond rock. More than any other group these guys were always my go to for hip-hop.
Rest in peace MCA, thank you for all of the great tunes, you will be greatly missed.
This sucks. I thought he did beat that cancer. 47 is no age.
In May 2011, I was recovering from my 2nd craniotomy (I was diagnosed with malign brain tumor in 2003). I remember lying in the hospital bed and reading an article about Adam's battle with cancer. It seemed that he was winning. The new album was out. And he was talking about future plans.
I wasn't a huge fan of the Beastie Boys, but the songs of theirs that I did liked I liked a whole damn lot. And I remember a day in high school where some friends and I made a short movie that was basically nothing but running and jumping shots because we were all obsessed with the video for Sabotage.
Such a shame. 47 is way too young, and for all the work he did musically and in helping spread the word about causes he believed in, I still think there was so much more he could've accomplished. RIP.
R.I.P. MCA. I was never big on the Beastie Boys(I'm more a LL cool J, Nas fan) but you have to acknowledge the fact that Beasties changed the game and paved the way for so many artists. They showed people Hip Hop isn't a black or white thing it's a culture. So lets bring it back to the old days and pour out your forty cause theres no sleep till BROOKLYN!!!!!!

Big props to what he and the guys did. Best wished for his family and band mates.

the added line "We're sending all our love to the Beastie Boys" moved me to tears
