This has an thread of truth about it. But yes, it is getting ridiculous. Legacy numbering is no longer a thing, I suppose. Should make a great jumping off point.

If we get a new Supergirl book out of it (and we should given the push to tie everything into the tv properties), I will be happy. Yes, I know there's a digital first thing they're doing...I want an actual bona-fide book.
I'm going to give DC credit, since I know no one else will, they did a bunch of new titles in June that were the most diverse group of titles (in terms of characters and tone) in years, and most of them were really good.
And no one bought them. And everyone made fun of the fact that no one bought them (even though, again, most of the titles were really good).
So I can't really blame them for focusing on the TV-verse since that's what's working for them at the moment.

I wish they were doing that for their upcoming Flash movie. That actor seemed terribly suited for the role in the "Dawn of the Justice League" TV special that aired. Of course that could've been the armored costume the production art revealed...
So then basically, the movie & tv show creators are the ones steering the directing of the books? Makes sense. I'm sure everyone who has never read the books, but dig the movies & tv shows will race out to buy them now.
Then again, it's a rumor being pushed out there by the TMZ of the comic book medium. Is it really believable?
If this is true then it is crazy but I haven't read Marvel or DC in couple years now. There's just nothing that interests me about Superhero comics anymore.

I'm up for relaunch, and maybe a slight realignment to the new movies, but not full on reboot. An older Batman, but not really old like in DKR or Beyond, to read in the comics seems exciting to me. I understand that doing new #1s every three or so years to get more new reader, and lapsed reader, interest is going to be the thing they feel they have to do. It worked for the New 52, for awhile, and it's been working over at the big competition, right?
Usually a relaunch is only a short term spike in sales. Then most books go right back to where they were and in some cases even less than before. A certain portion of the audience will jump off. Brian Hibbs in one of his recent articles said that he has noticed that the younger buyers are completely confused by the numbering. It makes no sense to them why there are so many #1's.
If you confuse your audience, your audience will go away.
Along with the reboot, the additional rumor is that DC is going to double ship a lot more titles and (even more so than now) the product line is going to be Batman/Superman/Harley Quinn heavy along with characters involved with tv shows/movies.
This is just a hypothetical but with DC investing so much into Batman, what if say just a quarter of that audience gets sick of it and stops buying anything Batman?

It's why I think characters like Deadpool, Wolverine & Snake-Eyes get tiresome. Overexposure just kills the coolness.
Given DC's current market state its not surprising they would try something big like this. If it is true it will be interesting . 1#'s don't have the power they used to even 4 years ago. Also DC have not done themselves any favours under Harras .
With the little information we have the only way this would truly matter to me is 1) we see a return to the New earth DC (post crisis -preflashpoint ) and or 2) a massive change up with creators on titles
1) is for obvious reasons , though would be risky for DC to do this cause it would be kinda like saying new 52 didn't work (which some like myself might debate is true ) .
2) is because I do think this is where they are falling flat. not all creators at DC a bad, every artist can sure draw better than I can . but there does seem to be to much of a 90's house style going on. I also feel writing has lacked impact for the most part in recent history but that could be because the 52 continuity feels more disorganised and personally doesn't matter as impact doesn't last and I don't have a connection with it in the first place
Not to say I want everything from New 52 gone, Court of Owls, Simon Baz and a few other things i'd be happy to see remain .

One would hope that the DC hype machine would be starting soon if they actually are going to try to make this work.

And yes. I'm gonna go see the movie. Looking forward to it! :)
