Ive been a dc fan for so long that i have only read 2 books from marvel (x-23 and jason aarons wolverine). can anyone give me good recommendations on any marvel books new and old to read?
It depends on your tastes. The book I'd suggest to anyone, straight up, is Brubaker's Captain America stuff. His Daredevil run was fun too, as was Iron Fist with Fraction/Aja.
You can't go wrong with Bendis on Ultimate Spidey, Hickman on anything with the Fantastic Four, Grant Morrison's New X-Men, Remender's Uncanny X-Force, and the Whedon/Cassaday Astonishing X-Men run. Might also be worth checking out The Runaways and Young Avengers.
Man, there's a lot of good Marvel stuff when I think about it, and I'm missing a lot too.
Pretty much anything collected in a Marvel Premiere HC is worth checking out. Everything from the Korvac Saga to Infinity Gauntlet to Torment to Child of Light, Child or Darkness, to Full Circle, to Proteus, to God Loves, Man Kills to Elektra:Assassin.
Yeah, completely a matter of personal taste. We can point you at things that have proved popular over the years and that seem to have a broad appeal to a large number of people but really all you can do is jump in and see what strikes your fancy. (although if The Immortal Iron Fist doesn't strike your fancy you may need to see a therapist for help immediately)
Essential Fantastic Four volumes 2 - 4. Lee and Kirby at their peak, and STILL a lot of fun to read, just start in Vol. 2 with the Inhumans, which is where Kirby's creativity took off like a rocket!
Amazing Spider-Man is a very solid book along with Hawkeye, Winter Soldier and Captain Marvel.
that is good to hear. i have never collected Amazing Spider-Man (really! never have! wierd I know) and just jumped on board this Dan Slott run but havn't gotten my first issue from DCBS yet.
Brubaker was very much involved in getting the Iron Fist book off and running a couple of years ago. I remember hearing an interview with him about it.

Dan Slott has written so Amazing Spider-Man stories, pun intended. He really seems to love writing the character and it so shows in his work.
