  • I just read this article at Forbes.com.

This part made me think of something:

"... where the solo franchises are expected to in some ways serve as vehicles to set up more Justice League films instead of making filmmakers feel they have true creative control to re-imagine the characters. How tempting will the films be to top filmmakers, knowing that the characters were already established in another film and that the solo films will almost surely be dominated by thinking and planning for the next team-up?"

I thought, could we compare single issues, or better yet, a run of single issues, to the movies, in the sense that this is one person's (director & creator for each medium) take on the character? Whoever gets the task of directing the next Batman movie following Nolan's take would be like how creators of comics all the time are tasked with continuing the book after another creator has left it. Some things they keep, other things they throw away. Sometimes they creatively throw away those previous ideas/continuity, other times not creatively at all. Let's hope that the new directors do this, but do this creatively.

And, I think this has been brought up elsewhere on these forums, Batman is, or could be, getting like the Bond franchise, in that a new actor comes along to play Bond, and sometimes that means a big shift in continuity, while other times it can be the same continuity.
