Geeky Halloween Suggestions

Fade2BlackFade2Black Posts: 1,457
As of this post, Halloween is a mere 50-days away.
Earlier today I was reminded of this fact when I received an invite to the annual Halloween party I usually attend.

I'm searching for some geeky costume ideas. Currently, I'm toying with the idea of going as Rincewind and his luggage.
But I'm also on a really tight budget, so that may be subject to change.

I'm also pondering what my theme will be for this year's pumpkin carving. Last year, I went with a Doctor WHO theme, so anything is fair game except for another WHOvian-themed gourd.

Got some geeky Halloween costume and carving ideas?
Post them here.
And by all means, feel free to fill this thread with photos from years past.

I only ever dress up to take the kiddo trick or treating, and this year I'm going way lazy with it: picked up one of those Spider-Man costume hoodies on Amazon (great deal on it, too!) and one of those plastic masks from the toy aisle at Target. :D

This would be great to cosplay:

    Yellow suit with vertical lines.

    Pink Bowler

    Pointy black shoes with spats.

James Sime, if you're reading this.
I could so see you as The Eraser!
Heck, I bet you already have a yellow pinstriped suit.

Thanks Grimsister. I like to make my costumes from scratch using as few items purchased specifically for the costume as possible. That said, the links you furnished do offer some great ideas, and of course this thread isn't just for me, so thanks again for all those links. Like my costumes, I also like to "do-my-own-stunts" so to speak when it comes to carvings. Templates are a fantastic tool and I usually employ them when I do my carvings, the only difference being I tend to make my own templates as opposed to downloading someone else's. As Halloween draws closer, I may update this thread with a simple tutorial outlining how to make a quick pumpkin carving template from a picture using Photoshop/or Gimp. Making a carving template is the easy part, doing the carving isn't particularly hard either, but working off a template is typically far more time-consuming than carving traditional pumpkins.

I love the Predator pumpkin in your last post - hmm. . . . perhaps I'll do an Alien face-hugger carving. We'll see. Keep those ideas coming.

BTW, these are the pumpkins I carved last year that I mentioned in my original post.

I just picked out my costume for this year. Every year I pick out two costumes. One if it is cold and one if it is hot. This year if it is cold I am going as Humpty Hump of Digital Underground. If it is hot I think I will go as low-rent Cap America like I did last year.
