I'd love to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum and not just for the Alex Ross exhibit. The NRM seems to be quite an intriguing place. I visit a museum at least every other week. Unfortunately the NRM is a couple of 1000s miles out of my way (and budget).
Have fun though. And a report with pics would be appreciated ;)
Went up with my son up to see the exhibit this weekend. Maybe a little smaller than I was expecting, and I was a little bummed that they didn't allow any photography of the exhibit due to "copyright restrictions" (though that wasn't a problem for the rest of the museum dedicated to, you know, the most famous illustrator in American history?!?), but it definitely represented a good cross-section of his work (particularly the DC material), and well-balanced by showing works from artists that inspired him - Rockwell, Warhol, even his own mom, among others - and lots of work he produced as a kid. I think this was the thing my son got the biggest kick out of. He has quite a creative streak, so seeing stuff obviously produced by a kid combined with the work that kid went on to produce as an adult seemed to inspire him a bit. At one point he turned to me and said "Maybe I could do this when I grow up. Wouldn't that be cool, Dad?"
