    This is beyond all comprehension.

My heart and prayers go out to these families.

Reposting my buddy Lisa's thoughts. She is the Executive Director of the Pediatric Resource Center in Peoria, IL. She deals with childhood trauma every day:

"Heartbroken at the tragedy in Connecticut. Saddened that events like this raise awareness about violence towards children.

Unfortunately, 30 other children lost their lives this week in our country at the hands of an abusive caregiver. And 30 more will next week and the week after that and the week after that ...

When violence is accepted in any form, it will be expressed in every form."

This is our second mass shooting in a week. Here in the Minneapolis area a grandfather shot his granddaughter, killing her, when she came to visit and he mistook her for an intruder.

And I understand the sentiment that "There are no words" or "I don't comprehend this".

I disagree with it. We don't treat the mentally ill and feel that giving them treatment is socialism or communism or whatever evil word will scare people the most. We sell guns in the same stores you can buy discount garbage bags and 5 gallon tubs of cheese balls. The lobby with the most money is the gun manufacturer's lobby, and even politicians who would WANT to talk about some sort of controls on who is able to have access to gun is destroyed by an avalanche of money.

This will happen again. This will happen more often. And every time, everyone on the TeeVee will say "Now is not the time to talk about gun control" and insurance companies will continue to exclude mental health treatment from what they cover because it might eat into their profits.

I no longer give a damn about the argument. The gun lobby has won, and the price we pay is stories like this. And we have decided that the price is just fine with us, as a country because we never EVER do anything about it. We cry and we pray and we go along when we are told that "now isn't the time to talk about it". And we decide it's never the time to talk about it, so we don't. The only gun laws we pass allow people to have more guns in more places with less restriction and oversight.

So, gun lobby, congratulations. You won. You get to control our government. Good for you.

I might actually watch Saturday Night Live tonight. It's been ages since I've done so.

I was thinking the same thing today. Didn't want to but it seems to be the reality.

Well I watched the worst piece of television "journalism" tonight on a segment on the Newton school shooting on 60 Minutes. 1. it shows a nurse as a coward in a closet for 4 hours. 2. CBS News interviewed three people, 1 a former student & two that knew the mom & mentioned that he had Aspergers & was on medication. However they did very little follow up to see if this was actually the case. 3. an two former Secret Service agents & studies on violence and assassination & attempts of such. Seriously in 13 minutes CBS pulled the worst crime in journalism not getting the story right & making a segment of the American population as potential criminals & casting a dark shadow over them. #CBSSHIT
