Besides the new title by Brian Wood, are there any other Star Wars titles worth checking out? I want to keep within the timeline and continuity of the movies to include the period between the two trilogies.

I think if you haven't sought them out, look for DARK EMPIRE, DARK EMPIRE II and Crimson Empire, I enjoyed them.

It may be cheesey however, I also enjoyed the old Marvel books released during the original trilogy.

Dark Horse reprinted the Star Wars newspaper strips as written by Archie Goodwin and drawn by the great Al Williamson. They offer a take on the events that took place between The end of "A New Hope", and "The Empire Strikes Back".

The Tag & Bink SW comics are pretty good and manage to tie in nicely with the movies.

I agree Tag and Bink is awesome. Like the Star Wars version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead... and the "many Bothans" joke alone is worth the price of the trade. You'll see what I mean.

I really enjoyed the Marvel run, at least the Empire Strikes Back, through to the end of the series. And Issue 38 is particularly stunning... Michael Golden at his finest.

Legacy is really really good. Oh, Star Wars Tales is good, too, if you like short-story type stuff.

I'm not sure if you can still get them, but Dark Horse published four-part mangas of each OT film. They were supposed to be a b&w shot-for-shot story. I'm not that big of a manga fan but I think they're really gorgeous. They also released a two-part E1 series that looked pretty too.

I started scooping up a bunch of those omnibus editions awhile back. The five Marvel reprints are well worth picking up.

If you want to look deep into the future, Legacy, as mentioned, is actually quite good. Just finished the first trade and I'm hooked now...dammit. :)
