SuperShow 2013 Raffle

Just listened to CGS: Episode 1342. Heard Pants say that half of the raffle proceeds go to the CGS podcast. A few moments later, he stated he spoke to Chris from WildPig Comics about one of the items he was interested in bidding on. If you are profiting from the raffle, is it not a conflict of interest to participate in it?

Again we seem to miss the fact that the Geeks are neither a business that demands a minimal level of accountability nor politicians who owe us impartial behavior. Why can't they drop their ticket in a bucket like the rest of us. If Pants starts winning all the time that is a quick way to kill the goodwill and in such a public endevour it would be very noticeable. Even if Wild Pig makes sweetheart deals with the Geeks how does it hurt us? If it offends you so don't participate.

@righthook I go to theater company fundraisers all the time where people that are in the company the fundraiser is benefitting buy more raffle tickets than the other guests.

That is not a conflict of interest. That is using your own dollars to support the entity you are a part of (and maybe have a chance of winning a prize like everyone else has a change). And it is a raffle- Pants can enter if he wants, and is taking the same chance as everyone else.

Or do you think Pants is actually rigging the raffle? Is that what you are trying to say?

And if that is not what you are suggesting, then what possible problem would come of a CGS host buying some raffle tickets?

If you don't think it is a fair raffle, then don't buy a ticket.
