Loved that show as a kid, and yes, the ever pompous Corporal Captain Peacock and his dodgy service record was always one of the big reasons why. He'll be missed.

I had no idea so many of them were gone. I checked out the Wikipedia page, and was surprised to see that of the original cast, only the actor who played Rumbold is still around. Strangely enough, I just saw him last night in an old Doctor Who (The Dalek Invasion of Earth), which got me to thinking about who was still around from AYBS before I even saw this thread and learned of Frank Thornton's death.
