What's this Superman GN?

Hi,
I need help with the name of a story, in an episode of CGS quite a while ago, it was a story about the start of Supermans career in the 30's/40's, and I remember one specific comment was that it had Fleischer cartoon style boxy robots!
Does anyone know what the name of this story is?

This looks quite intriguing. I love anything which is somehow related to the War of the Worlds concept. I'm not the greatest fan of Superman though. Would the book still be worth reading?

I guess I'll listen to spotlight on Superman in the modern age and see if any of you mention it on there!

The issue of Action Comics where the Earth 2 Superman and Lois get married has a villain who uses robots that are the spitting image of the Fleischer cartoon robots, and even get called the Mechanical Marauders.
