The Star Wars - Comic Preview (realizing George Lucas' original screenplay) !!!SPOILERS!!!

So if you listened to the latest CGS Episode 1409 Talkback - Comic Talk, you may have heard the guys (and gal) talk about the new Star Wars book by Brian Wood (Dark Horse). If you're a fan of the original trilogy (and if you aren't, seriously, why are you here? ;) ), it is a great story that takes place in between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Anyway, last month's Previews had this book solicited. I ordered it and am excited to check it out. It's Star Wars from Lucas' original screenplay. Below are some preview images I saw over at Bleeding Cool.

    Um, is that Swamp Thing?

Yeah, I read somewhere (I cant remember where...) that the character is a combination of Han Solo and Chewbacca. I think I also read that he is organic based, like Swamp Thing. So, yeah. Pretty much. Although, if you look right next to Skywalker's left knee, there is Chewy. It's all going to feel wonky because the book is based on the original screenplay and not the "finished" film.

I'm intrigued by this and giving the first issue a try. Generally I am intrigued by process- early drafts, cut scenes, abandoned ideas. It may be fun to see those adapted.
  • Damn you!! Damn you all!! I wasn't the least bit interested in this book until you showed me pages! Oh, my eyes!! My wallet!! And me without an inch to spare in my comics budget!! Now I'll have to put this on my list of books I must eventually get when I have cash, come hell or high water!! Oh, damn you all!!!

Seriously, as much as I stay away from all Star Wars books since the movies concluded years ago, this does look very intriguing.
