Spader is a great actor... and has changed SO MUCH over the years... it's almost like he's had many different careers.
Plus, this really adds some confusion to the "Jarvis is Ultron" rumors... which I like. I want to be surprised.
I was one of the early proponents of the Jarvis/Ultron connection theory, and I hope I'm right. It builds nicely on what we've seen in the previous films and I think Whedon & Downey can do brilliant stuff with Ultron being a result of Stark's hubris.
Nevertheless, I'm glad Bettany won't be doing the voice, and am intrigued by the implication that Spader will be playing Ultron, rather than voicing him. I prefer a villain who can be on the set, making eye contact with the other actors, to yet another CG monster.

I was rather expecting that his portrayal would be a bit of both -- CGI and motion capture. I'd rather see that than Spader inside a tin costume.
I was kind of hoping he'd play Hank Pym / Ultron. Spader does creepy well enough that you could believe him as Pym (not that they're likely to do the whole wife-beating aspect).

I immediately think of a Secretary/Avengers 2 mashup. If they cast Maggie Gyllenhal as Janet/Jocasta...

If they did, though, he'd be great at it. Have you seen Secretary?
To be serious, though, this is great casting. I am glad they went for a voice that reads as intelligent and dangerous rather than just going for big and booming. And if is also doing some physicality as well, then all the better. He's an excellent actor.
Great choice. I would've been pleased with Paul bettney(sp?) too but would rather see him used for vision. Perhaps that becomes their weapon against ultron? Fire w fire? Would enjoy agent coulsons voice for vision too.

Creepy is not an adjective I would have ever thought to apply to Hank Pym. Not that it wouldn't be an interesting angle but Hank is one of the good guys (Ultimate tweaks nonwithstanding)
