HELP! TRADING 1-for-1 Guardians of the Galaxy (2008) issues?

Hey guys,

I've been in the long process of acquiring a full run of the 2008 DnA Guardians of the Galaxy series. Today I thought I had completed my set, and was about to sit down and start reading all of it, but then I realized something alarming:

I had two copies of issue 15, but no copies of 16.

I had been having to order scattershot issues from many different places, and what happened was that a certain online comics shop (that shall remain nameless) accidentally sent me a copy of #15 instead of #16.

So, anyone willing to trade? I send you a copy of GotG #15 and you send me your #16? I'd send mine with cardboard backing and bubble wrap, in an envelope that can be mailed First Class for only $2.50 or so. I'd even send you a bonus mystery comic or two, if that would pique your curiosity. (And if you don't want to pay for shipping on your end, just ask and I'll throw you $3 via PayPal so you don't have to.)

At the moment I have a few other feelers out there to try and rectify this situation, but if you're interested in doing this simple trade, please let me know.

PS. As far as I know both 15 and 16 are worth about $7 each. I've been hunting down this whole run for about a month now. I've seen both issues sell for anywhere between $3 and $10. But, guys, just a heads-up . . . If you have copies of issue #1 or #25, you may want to put them up on eBay.

I'd send it to you for nothing but I'd be damned if I knew where it was. My collection is the antithesis of organized.
  • Heh. Well... let me know if you find it! I guess I should probably just order another one from somewhere -- they aren't ALL sold out everywhere -- but it sucks to bite another $10 bullet (including shipping) for this one pesky issue.

Issue 16 problems aside, you are in for a real treat... I absolutely loved that DnA run on Guardians of the Galaxy. The current Bendis incarnation is a pale imitation in comparison (no Bug!). If you haven't read it yet, I would suggest you start off with Giffen's 2007 Annihilation: Conquest - Starlord 4 issue mini before you get into the Guardians series.
  • Yeah, I've dipped into issues here and there, was confused as hell, but still enjoyed what I read and definitely sensed quality. The early issues with Paul Pelletier art were really, really, really good. I wish he had drawn the whole series.

The reading order of all of this Annihilation-related stuff really confuses me. Thanks for recommending that one mini-series. Maybe I'll start there. Marvel really should put all of the DnA-related cosmic stuff out as an Omnibus, or two. I'm surprised they haven't already.

    Drax 1-4
    Annihilation Nova 1-4
    Annihilation Silver Surfer 1-4
    Annihilation Super-Skrull 1-4
    Annihilation Ronan 1-4
    Annihilation 1-6
    Annihilation: Heralds of Galactus 1-2

That sums up the first of the Annihilation events. I start with the Drax the Destroyer mini because this is where Marvel cosmic changes and is no longer one long love letter to Jim Starlin. I don't know if that helps but if it does I can supply you with a reading list for the whole DnA run.

Yep. Exactly the time I realized that Paul Pelletier doesn't get anywhere near the respect he deserves. That run rocketed him into my top ten of current favourites.

Thanks for that! It'll take me a while to work through that and what I've already got to read, but possibly I (or someone else) will start an Annihilation/DnA cosmic thread at some point in the near future.

By the way, I *think* I'm close to resolving the GotG #16 situation. If anyone reads this thread and wants to trade, by all means let me know. But I THINK I found a seller on eBay who is willing to trade. And, if that falls through, I found two online comic shops that actually have copies for cover price, and their S+H isn't that high. I can stomach another $7 or whatever in order to complete my set.

But, wow, is Marvel insane for not reprinting this series again or what? I just saw the Marvel solicits for December, and they show a new big 300-page Guardians of the Galaxy TPB, Vol. 1 . . . of the Jim Valentino run. I guess they're slowly working their way up to reprinting the DnA stuff in time for the movie, but . . . why on earth not START with that run since it's the one everyone wants?

I know you're looking for physical copies, but I thought you should know about this:

It's only for vol. 1, but $4 is hard to beat.
