IDW's Sales Strategy - Selling Comics To Kids

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/10/15/my-little-pony-reinventing-the-comic-to-sell-to-kids-again/

This is going to have some degree of success because of the overall package, but can it be successful in bringing kids into comics? Boom is already planning to give this a try. Will Marvel and DC give this a go or do they even have to?

In Europe similar tactics are and have been working. Kids want to have some gimmicks with their comics. Something to read, something to play and stuff to collect. Many kids get hooked this way.
  • I'd love to know how the My Little Pony books are selling outside of comic shops. The Papercutz kids books sell amazingly well outside of comic shops, but I doubt many people on this forum have seen them in a comic shop.

Some of us rarely see the inside of a comic shop at all, relying upon mail order. But the point is a good one, and I'm equally curious how sales elsewhere are.
