The current Valiant runs...

So, I will freely admit that I completely missed out on the 90's run of Valiant comics. I was pretty swayed by those pretty Image books and never ventured into the Valiant world.

Since then, I've discovered several of those books and really enjoyed the reads (Harbinger, Solar, Turok).

Is anyone reading the current Valiant printings? Are they reboots of the 90's line, or a continuation?

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

They very much seem to be a reboot. Only characters that feel like they have a deep connection to anything older are the HARDcorps guys (especially Gunslinger) and the AniPada brothers.
  • I've been a little reluctant to even look at the current reboot since it doesn't include the Gold Key heroes (Solar, Magnus and Turok), who I really liked and felt were the real linchpin of that first Valiant run. However, the only real reason I'm not getting them is that I can't spread my money that far right now. I'm certainly open to trying them if I could.

Personally, I'm loving them. I've happily cut titles from Marvel and DC (and the DCBS bundle doesn't hurt).
  • Oh, I've cut a lot of DCs lately... unfortunately, my income has seen some decreases of late, which only make those cuts a relief... and make it impossible for me to add on other titles to my list. (Or else I gladly would.)

So far I've read all the new Valiant books. Never read the old stuff. Don't care. Loving the new stuff. And yet - I'll have no problem to drop the books as soon they bore me.

I get the series via comiXology and usually when reduced or on sale.

the only one I'm reading is Archer and Armstrong, but I really enjoy it, reminds me of The Incredible Hercules run a while back.
  • I'm reading X-O; Archer & Armstrong; Eternal Warrior; Bloodshot and HARD Corps; and Harbinger, and have been enjoying all of them, A&A the most. I also read some of Shadowman and one issue of Quantum & Woody. They were both well done, but they just weren't for me.

I have read every trade available in the rebooted Valiant universe. I am enjoying every title. Everything is at least good. I would say Archer & Armstrong is the best with Van Lente writing. I will be continuing to preorder all of the Valiant trades for the foreseeable future!

I picked up Harbinger and Archer & Armstrong when comiXology had a recent $0.99 sale. Loved ''em.
