So I got let go today, time to move, help me tech people!

Parent company was doing layoffs and I was caught in the 10% that had to be let go. Since I have a bit of money, the wife and I have decided it is time to get the hell out of Utah. I have various certifications including my CCNA and CCNP, MOUS, A+, and also know various languages such as C#, Actionscript, Python, and can generally jump into any type of object oriented language. I've also served as an admin on Windows servers (2003 and 2008), and managed LMS systems for companies as large as Lockheed Martin and Merck (pharmaceutical). Does anyone know of any good states that have a strong tech job market and are possibly not an at-will employment state? Help me fellow CGS listeners!

@WetRats : Yours is a profession that got pushed quite a bit over the last couple of years. There used to be a high demand for professionals. Meanwhile there are now (maybe too) many young professionals seeking work. The Swiss printing business is rather small.... But I like your liking of Switzerland >:D<

maybe this is my ticket back home to PA, I know pittsburgh has become a great tech area since the city has done so much to turn around the whole steel image. all my family is back there, hmm. i think it might be the best time to do it, nothin to lose!.

I'll PM you a name of a guy I trust implicitly. Seriously all the best man and I'm happy to help however I can. I wish I was hiring currently for my dept. but my guess is I'm about a year or two away from having a spot that would fit for you... but like I said I know a ton of great tech recruiters and people in HR/hiring here.

All I can say is avoid Mississippi. There is very few tech jobs in this state. The only good thing about the state is it is extremely cheap to live here. Sadly the best parts of the state to live in,job wise and for other reasons,are also the areas that every 5 years or so get hit by hurricanes.And about every 35 years get almost destroyed by hurricanes.

thank you for the info @zhurrie, Got a call from my Ma tonight and she is wanting me to come back home to PA, if I get back there then I'm definitely going to get ahold of them and see what I can make happen.
