Great/Favorite Apps?

Okay, so, I've come to the forum many times for advice, and that has led to this - I now own a Surface RT, have a wireless router in my home, and now I'm seeking recommendations for apps I should be getting.

I am, as often is the case in these matters, lacking in virtually all knowledge, so I'm all ears in this.
