Yes, that’s right, he was 106 years old. I can’t say exactly how many Shaw Brothers kung-fu flicks I’ve watched over the decades (it’s a lot), but I’ve loved them since I was a kid. Besides popularizing the kung-fu genre and producing dozens of great, fun movies (and a lot of stinkers too) which influenced future American directors like Quentin Tarintino, Sir Run Run (how can you not love a name like that) was also a great philanthropist.
Oh, and he also was the producer of Blade Runner.
And he has an asteroid named after him.
Time to go watch The Five Deadly Venoms again.
