I believe there was a rush to production once the word got out. Apparently on several of the episodes the "stinger" announcing next week's villain ("Next week - The PENGUIN!") got left out and apparently on one of the Marsha episodes there's a 10-second scene deleted.
So my guess is that's why they didn't bother splicing in the commentary tracks.
FYI, Warner is apparently making good on this by shipping replacement discs to anyone who writes in which include the stingers and the missing 10-seconds. I haven't done this yet but might.
Sounds like amateur hour prevailed. It's pretty much been common knowledge that Adam West had recorded these commentaries for a while, did the producers of the DVDS set really not consider commentary tracks at all? I'm a bit skeptical.

I think the quick cash grab before the holidays won out over what fans might have really wanted to have. I picked it up anyhow because I don't care about commentary tracks for the most part. I just want to watch and enjoy the show.
The shows are being re-run on several outlets and for me I like getting discs for the bonuses. Everyone has their own taste though. I see it as one of the biggest opportunities ever missed to know Adam West did commentaries and the producers of the blu-ray collection didn't make a deal with Mr. West.
