So I had a keeper league last year that has now kinda blown up in my face, and I'm looking for recruits. The league will start from scratch, and here are some of the ideas I've been toying with regarding keepers.
8 Teams
4 playoff spots
1st place – draft slot and extra keeper
2nd place – draft slot or extra keeper
Consolation winner – draft slot
10 Teams
4 Playoff Spots
1st place – draft slot and extra keeper
2nd place – draft slot or extra keeper
Consolation Winner – Draft Slot
12 Teams
6 Playoff Spots
1st place – 2 extra keepers
2nd place – protected draft slot or extra keeper
3rd – protected draft slot or extra keeper (2nd place’s leftovers)
Consolation winner – protected draft slot
If we get more teams, I'll figure out a playoff system as we get there.
KEEPER RULES:
Keeper value = 3 year average (last yr rank, yr before rank, current o-rank divided by 3, that becomes the draft number. Draft number corresponds to rounds based on teams.
Example: Player A
Ranks by year:
2012 – 100
2013 – 79
2014 – 50
3 year average = 76.33
8 teams = 10th round keeper
10 teams = 8th round keeper
12 teams = 6th round keeper
Each team gets 4 keepers: 2 batters, 2 pitchers. The only exception is the league champion and one of the runners’ up.
FUTURE KEEPER COST: Keepers go up in value for every year owned by two rounds. There’s a 4 year cap on keepers. Meaning you can own a player for 4 years maximum.
Example: Player B valued as a 8th round keeper in 2014, will be a 6th round in 2015, 4th round in 2016, 2nd round in 2017 and 1st round in 2018. 2019 the player becomes available for drafting.
NEW OWNERSHIP:
New Owners have the right to select a team roster from the previous year, and choose keepers from that team. They may also opt out and choose their team from scratch. If more than 40% of league is new, reset draft takes place.
8 team league reset = 3 new owners
10 team league reset = 4 new owners
12 team league reset = 5 new owners
