I'm not surprised by this. Gary Reed (the publisher) has been back on the convention circuit for at least a couple of years now, bringing some of the old material back in to print. Caliber published some good stuff back in their prime. They’re probably best known for The Crow, A.K.A. Goldfish and Jinx (some of Bendis’ earliest work), Maze Agency (Adam Hughes’ first regular series), Negative Burn (one of the best indie anthology comics ever produced), Deadworld, and my personal favorite, Baker Street. Of course, most of these titles have either moved on to other publishers or are simply not likely to return. I think Negative Burn is the most likely of these to be brought back.
But if Reed can convince Guy Davis to finish up Baker Street (he and Davis co-created the series, though Guy took over the writing with the second arc), I will forever be in his debt.
I'll keep an eye on it. His various attempts at revivals haven't done that well, but he is a hell of a talent scout, and the roster he had in the 90's was full of heavy hitters in training.
Caliber also had one the best ideas ever: You could subscribe to the COMPANY. $20 a month and they'd send you everything they published that month...and if they didn't publish about $30 worth of books, they'd throw in inventory stuff to fill out your package. More indy companies could get me to line up for their stuff with a deal like that.
