Original Sin Question

I don't see an Original Sin thread so I guess I have to make my own. Just a simple question. Should I read Original Sin? I have cut my comics buying dramatically due to the fact that I have been very busy and don'y have that much reading time and that I don't like Marvel Now, which is sad because Marvel is why I got into comics. I didn't like Marvel's last event, should I buy into this one?

I'll probably be in the minority here, but I've been put off from Marvel events since Secret Invasion. It was a great story and premise, but it had no ending. That's the point with these. They're supposed to be universe shattering and realigning and yet it happens every year. I get why they do it ($$$!), I have just chosen to stay away. I've bought and read the events that came after SI, but they too were lacking something. I didn't purchase AvX but I read it from a library collected edition and thought it was "meh". I've chosen to pick up any event issues later in the back issue bins, $0.99 sale on comiXology, or in trade if it gets good reviews.

A little while ago it sounded as though the rally was on after the Age of Ultron debacle and then when Marvel put out Infinity, everyone went, "Ooo! Shiny!" and forgot (I'm looking right at you @JamieD‌). ;)

Bottom line, you should be buying what you want. From the sound of it, you aren't thrilled with Marvel right now so it might be important to wait. If you just want to read the story, you can wait. Sometimes it's better to read it all together anyway. If you're a collector, then maybe you'll want to get those issues, because you don't know if they'll be selling at a premium later it not.

I'm slightly less jaded. I'm going to give the main series a go. and i'll of course include anything i'm already collecting but i typically don't pick up titles not on my regular pull list just because of a crossover.

For some reason I have avoided Original Sin because it sounds sort of like the same setup for Earth X. Someone rips out the Watcher's eyes. I know that beyond that it goes a completely different route and the Watcher is actually killed, but meh... I'm not interested. The X series was truly Earth-shattering, but didn't happen in continuity either. If anyone starts reading it and deems it worthy, please let this forum know.

The Reader's Digest version is that someone has murdered The Watcher and removed his eyes. His eyes apparently contain the memories of everything he's ever seen and as the Watcher has seen literally everything that has taken place in the Marvel Universe, they hold a boatload of secrets. Some of these secrets are things that various heroes aren't proud of (ie "sins"). It would seem to be a big whodunit with various "startling revelations" coming to light designed to upset the status quo, yada, yada, yada.
