Movie News: Lone Wolf and Cub

Japanese manga series Lone Wolf and Cub has been optioned for a potential movie.
Deadline reports that Kamala Films picked up the rights to the celebrated 70s manga series written by Kazuo Koike and illustrated by Goseki Kojima.
The original was set feudal Edo period, and chronicles the story of Ogami Itto, the Shogun’s elite executioner. In an attempt to take his position, the rival Yagyu clan falsely accuses Itto of a crime and murders his wife. Disgraced, Itto is forced to wander Japan with his three-year-old son Daigoro as an assassin for hire, earning the title “Lone Wolf and Cub.” Ultimately, Itto and Daigoro seek revenge on the Yagyu clan. Koike’s manga, published in the United States by Dark Horse Comics, is considered a seminal work.
The original manga has served as an inspiration for Road to Perdition and Kill Bill, Volume 2.
David & Janet Peoples will write a script and director Justin Lin is already attached to the project.

LW&C was the only Japanese comic I was able to get into when I was giving them a go in the late 80s/early 90s. I still have the ones First put out. I didn't know that Dark Horse finished the series. I'll have to put those on my read list.

The original show and movie was pretty good. I'm sure now a days, LW&C would be EPIC!!

I never read the original, but I did pick up the Dark Horse cyberpunk version Lone Wolf 2100 and loved it. This would be fun to see.

This is not the first time this has come up. Daren Aronosky was attached at one time. If you have never watched the original movies or tv show you should check them out they are a riot.
