Question on tablets for comic reading

Hello everyone -

I am dipping my toes into the waters of digital comics.

Was wondering if someone could tell me if this tablet would be sufficient for comics reading, "regular" books reading, and maybe the occasional internet browsing.

amazon.com/HP-Windows-4G-Enabled-Includes-Personal/dp/B00NSHLUFQ/?tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=16d70a5148c44bcba995b111490928a7

I know that a true comic book reader would get a 10'' tablet, but I am not ready to invest that amount of money (yet). Thought this might be a good starter tablet.

Thanks!!
Max

It's not bad for getting your toes wet.

I started off with a tablet about that size and under 100 bucks before I moved on to the iPad.

7" works pretty well. I bought a refurb Kindle Fire HD a while back and it's great for reading comics (and eBooks).
  • I appreciate the feedback! I am going to go buy a tablet tomorrow. I'm looking forward to digging into the Marvel Unlimited catalog. Very impressed with the amount of content available on Marvel Unlimited.
  • I started out with a 7 inch Kindle myself, then upgraded to a Kindle Fire HD when I got one for asking a good question at a DC panel at SDCC 2013. I didn't notice much of a difference with the HD though. Then this last September I went up to a 10 inch, I like it so much better. Just starting out though I think a 7 inch is fine. If you find you are reading the majority of your stuff digitally you might what to go bigger eventually. Also if you use android and not apple I cannot recommend the ComiCat app highly enough.
  • Max - marvel unlimited is a little buggy on the iPad, but I'm not complaining as it's probably the most incredible value for someone who wants to read stories, not collect comics.

I read using unlimited on a full sized iPad retina. IMHO I think that a 7" screen would be too small for my old eyes, but it would probably depend on the resolution.

My reading has increased from 1-2 books per week to over a dozen and

    Soooo convenient. So inexpensive.

Keep us posted on what you think after you give it a try.

    Merry Christmas!
