I dunno, I hope so. I've seen articles about Ben Kingsley being cast for the villian (awesome), and that the story would be based on Extremis, which could just be the rumor mill churning.
I'd read the Extremis articles recently, maybe it'll be both combined? Typically blockbuster audiences need a "thing" as the bad guy and I'm not sure Extremis would work from that perspective, although I've not read it in a while.
I don't really like that they're making Savin "Iron Patriot" when he never was. It would have been SOOOOO much more awesome to have Norman make a cameo or something and possibly have Secret Invasion play a part in Avengers 2 or something.
I'm a little disappointed it's going to be another "armored guy fights armored guy" story. Surely the Marvel Movie Universe has expanded enough that Tony can branch out.

The thing is that Iron Man is a guy in a suit of armor shooting bullets, rockets and energy beams. Who else is going to be able to stand up against him besides another guy in a suit of armor?
Unless you're a villain strong enough to take a punch from a metal fist, rockets and energy blasts, you're not going to last very long in a fight with Iron Man.

Looking through his list of villains on Wikipedia, the pickings are pretty slim. The non-armored ones sound pretty lame.
The Ghost, Living Laser and Radioactive Man are the only ones that leap out at me right away. Otherwise, it's just more armored guys, or silliness like Man-Bull.

Radioactive Man has Fallout Boy to aid him, and together they are formidable.

I didn't bring up Mandarin, since I think it's likely we'll eventually get him, maybe even in this film if some rumors are true.
Madame Masque is a similar one along those lines. Someone who could prove more of a threat to Tony Stark than to Iron Man. I think that's actually the smarter way to go, rather than end every film with a bunch of armor on armor action.
The next one can be a romantic comedy with Pepper helping him through his alcoholism and no super villains. And the post credit scene can be a bottle of scotch leering menacingly at Tony and Pepper walking off into the sunset.
Got more info... they have been filming at Screen Gems studios in Wilmington, and in downtown Wilmington... Epic Games and some interiors at Sas in Cary will double for the interior of the new Stark bldg. Near my office, they will be filming exteriors on Weston Parkway.
Screen Gems was built for the production of Kong Lives, and is the largest soundstage on the east coast.
I don't know why E! News has become the primary news source when it comes to these comic movies, but we got some more info.... Supposedly, the Mandarin will be accompanied by a scientist.... Chen Lu. For those of you who don't know who that is -- Radioactive Man! Pretty cool stuff. It will be revealed at Comic Con.
Liked the teaser. Looking forward to the full trailer. Downey Jr is bound to be awesome in this. Over on newsarama they're talking about how he will lose a lot of his tech early in the film. Sounding interesting. Can't wait til may.

Stuck I tell you!
Unless....
Maybe he could fight Popeye!!!!!!
I love the fact that Tony's constant redesigning of the armor is such an element of the films.
Tell 'em I said "hey".
