But sadly, it seems that the farther a title is removed from the event/big picture structure, the less it sells.

This is so true, yet so untrue. If you think of Image, IDW, Dark Horse, most/all of their titles spin off on their own. So clearly it can be done, and with tie-ins, I might add. I think part of it is perception by the reader. Perhaps deep rooted Marvel readers are the culprits that would not take too well to a main character not being a part of the universe. Conversely, maybe Marvel needs to look at doing a better job of marketing independent titles . . . Treat them as Indie titles, let the creators run with the character, under the Marvel umbrella. Just thinking out loud, as the work day has gone slow

I imagine if Silver Surfer were an indie book, it's current numbers would be plenty high enough to keep it running, but Marvel & DC's cancellation thresholds are much higher.

    Dammit.
  • Been trying to jog my memory, but a year or 2 back in New Avengers (or Avengers World? Or maybe Avengers Assemble? Or Uncanny Avengers? Or perhaps plain ol' Avengers? Eh, who knows. You need a damn scorecard for this sometimes) there was a plotline, where Tony Stark from the future (or his descendent or something?) journeyed back in time and help to "hide" (for lack of a better word) another Earth in the same exact space as our Earth (or something like that). Admittedly, the whole "incursions" thing and time travel, etc, etc., has been so convoluted, I just can't keep track of things anymore.

Did anything ever come of it?

I'm excited for all this and for once I'm going to do my best to be surprised by what happens.

I can't shake the feeling that future me from 2021 is laughing at all of us right now. Regardless, I'm excited.

    I'm pretty excited for this.

Best part is, I'm behind on comics, so I haven't gotten to Time Runs Out and Axis.
