Enh, I'd rather see History of the World, Part II.
Okay, actually I'd rather just watch Young Frankenstein again.
can't we do all three?
If we must. For me, Brooks was at his best when he worked with Gene Wilder. Wilder would actually challenge him, and together they'd hammer a good project into a great project. Without Wilder, Brooks is still funny, but not brilliantly funny.
Personally, I think Spaceballs is a classic, but I don't see how a second part would work. Maybe they'll surprise me. Although it's hard to see how Mel Brooks' humor will play in today's PC world. Can you imagine if Blazing Saddles hit theaters tomorrow? There would be riots.

Nobody riots over the Farrelly Brothers or Family Guy. If anything Blazing Saddles might suffer today from not being stupid enough.

Brooks also is almost the very definition of the law of diminishing returns. Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein were classics, High Anxiety was OK, Spaceballs worked if you were a kid when you watched it the first time, Robin Hood was bad and Dracula, Dead and Loving It is almost as bad as those "Date Movie" type "parodies."
Brooks should be the "living legend" and not make any more movies. He's done his share.

I consider Young Frankenstein to be the funniest movie ever made. And there's only one joke in it that is dated (and it was kinda dated back in 1974.)
Spaceballs had a few good jokes and a whole lot of really easy ones. It was Brooks going for the cash rather than working from a love of the genre.
I prefer Blazing Saddles!
