Haven't checked gmail in ages, so I totally missed the announcement about San Diego. Not that I had any plans of going. Was it as big a clusterflop as always, Torch?
Yeah, I'm totally in. The original series is so over-the-top goofy and fun. Even Dyna-Girl's constant Burt Ward-esque exclamations ("Electra-Wow!") have a weird charm.
And, yeah, it never hurt that they were attractive women in tight leggy costumes. :x
That 2001 Markie Post pilot seems over-the-top parody meets cynicism. Electra Woman has become a bitter, slutty alcoholic, divorcee whose husband left her for Dyna Girl. Not sure who that was for. Probably why it was never picked up. I think the original series was at least a good role model for little girls, like the Wonder Woman series that had also begun airing around that time.
I was never enthralled with the original Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. Seemed too much like a parody of Batman. It was alright, but not my favorite of the Krofft Supershow offerings. I was much more interested in Land of the Lost, the Lost Saucer,Dr. Shrinker, Wonderbug, Bigfoot and Wildboy, and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. My 8 year-old self couldn't discern how equally and utterly awful many of those series were... :) Besides, there was no way this show could stand up to the quality of the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman series which had just debuted.
Fun fact: On Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, Professor Frank Heflin was portrayed by Norman Alden, who also provided the voice of Aquaman and Green Arrow in Hanna-Barbera's long-running animated series, Super Friends.
As for this new incarnation, here are the new 'stars'...

I was supposed to get, but never did get, my email letting me know when the big SDCC lottery for badges was going on. So no go for me this year - which is really okay, as we're remodeling our bathroom and could use the funds there. :)
I was coming of age around the time EW & DG showed up, and as mentioned, was figuring out women might not be the enemy after all. I remember watching the Batman show and thinking "This would be awesome if they had two girls in the role" (Bear in mind this was about 20 years before the internet would make such stuff a cottage industry! :) ) So EW & DG filled that void, even if it was sillier than the Batman show.
And as someone else mentioned, two cute ladies running around in tights and unitards? Yeah, I'm not gonna watch that. :)
To this day I'm confounded by how this show eluded me as a child. It somehow slipped by me but most all the others I certainly remember and i surely would've checked this out. Regardless, I'm happy for whoever is excited and interested in this but it looks horrendous to me.

I have a bootleg of the old episodes on disc, and you can bet I'll be tuning in for this one (does one "tune in" Youtube?)

Hopefully it will be better than Will Farrel's Land of the Lost...

We have outfits! I'm cool with it - couldn't really expect pigtails and leotards, could I? Or maybe this is what moving to LA does to them. :)
