I agree. I think my uh-oh is more that reshoots seem to have taken longer than expected which is why Desplat stepped aside.
Giacchino is a great composer and is J.J. Abrams' go to score guy. He scored all of the Lost episodes and all three of the new Star Trek movies along with several recent Pixar films. For a Star Wars score composed by someone besides John Williams, Giacchino is an inspired choice.
He will very likely replace Williams on a future installment of the saga, once Williams steps down or passes on.
International Trailer for Rogue One is VERY REVEALING! The trailer includes a wealth of new footage from the film, including new looks at very young Jyn Erso, the Death Star, new dialogue, and even a new shot of Darth Vader himself. It should be noted that at least one portion of the trailer seems to confirm a long standing fan theory about a big moment in the film. If you're sensitive to SPOILERS, you may want to skip this one. If you do decide to watch it, you're in for a huge treat.
Keeping it non-spoilery... I absolutely loved it. It's dark, darker than Empire but the last word spoken, counters the darkness in a great way.
I didn't stay to beyond the end credits so if there was anything right at the end I missed it, but the last ten seconds really couldn't be topped as a teaser for the 'future'.
The only thing I wasn't sure of, was the music. It seemed to play with the classic themes too much, by which I mean sometimes the music began as a something you'd recognise but then branch off into a new variation, a little off-putting for me.
Anyway for me, it's better than TFA (which I did like) and may even be better than ESB.
When I first heard about Star Wars spin-offs, I was skeptical but they've won me over.
And as for the last twenty minutes, what's the old saying "We'll sell you the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge".
That movie delivered. I always imagined how getting the plans happened and this did it vividly. Also explained why the Death Star was so easy to take down.

New Trailer! It's a goodie!
Note if the film is a "mess" who scored the film has little bearing

Very, very good.
Seeing it again today.
Of all the things I loved about this film, #1 was how many nameless characters had hero moments.
