Free Comic Book Day 2015 - Events, Hauls, Pictures and More!

Seems I start a thread like this every year. I know, historically speaking, it won't get much play but hey, I AM curious to see those who do participate! Stories, pictures, all of the above and more.

So I visited 4 of my planned 5 stores for FCBD stuff. Got a couple of free sketches...

And got SEVERAL comics. I purchased some stuff from my pull folder at my LCS (they were having a 10% off sale, good time to pick it up) including my Convergence issues. I bought two old school Spectre issues (when Hal was the Spectre) that I was missing at another store.

All in all, here's my haul...

Best of all my little sister and her fiance Gary joined me. Gary is more of a gaming and multimedia geek (Geek movies and TV shows as well as video games) but he's getting into comics with my help. So it was nice to have some people along for the ride. (I'm the dude in red)

Lt. Camari from The Red Skirts - our very first Sketch Request from the original comic written by me and scribbled all over by Dave Beaty.

No, I didn't draw this. Dave did during our FCBD launch party for the comic. There's a whole 'nuther thread to fill you in on the details of the comic you should plan on reading!

I pretty much scooped up all the freebies I could. I have plentiful reading in front of me for the rest of the week! :)

I went to East Coast Mags in Montclair. I took my daughter with me. They had a huge canvas that they were asking for people to paint. She enjoyed that. She got a few books as well as I did. I gotta say, I'm kind of intrigued by the All New, All Different Avengers. The story in the free comic got me interested in the team and it's dynamic.

Went to a packed Forbidden Planet in London to get the Doctor Who comic signed for my Canadian nephew and niece, and to get the 2000AD Prog signed by A bunch of Droids including the legendary Mick McMahon.

also collected more signatures in an ongoing charity project for Cancer Research

My daughter loves the Flash, but Wonder Woman really got her attention.

Our haul. Much to the chagrin of my wife, my daughter made her read the comics to her.

50% off all back issues so I grabbed a few.

My LCS had local artists doing free sketches for kids. My daughter was pretty excited for this since she got to meet Supergirl just a few minutes earlier.

Overall, I was really impressed with my LCS this year. They really stepped it up from last year and it just seems to get bigger and bigger. It feels like they're finally getting the whole idea that FCBD is about celebrating the medium and getting a younger generation involved. The line was about double what it was last year and many of the people in line had little kids with them.

The next FCBD event is Halloween Comic Fest on Saturday, October 31

Does your LCS recognize this event and have any sales or giveaways?
