Star Wars #6 (SPOILERS)

I didn't see a thread on this, so I figured I would start one. Got caught up on the main Star Wars title last night.. what are your reactions to the big reveal?

I'm on board with it- I have enjoyed the run immensely. I am reading the main book, Darth Vader, and I'll be picking up the Lando miniseries (although in a fit of speed-DCBS-ordering I missed preordering #2 so I'll be heading to the LCS for that one.)

I actually haven't read much Star Wars comics prior to this, and I know there's some hardcores out there, so hit us with some opinions.

I thought it was a fun idea. And, given that we got the cliffhanger on the reveal, I am guessing there will be a tall tale behind it all that can let it be true whilst not making Han a philandering jerk at the same time.

I'm not only interested in what happens with the story, I'm interested in the storytelling mechanics of what they end up doing with this character.. because we all know that the subsequent movies play out with nary a trace of her. I suppose there are ways to keep her in play for stories that take place AFTER Empire in the chronology, but making sure that it doesn't play all ham-handed will be a neat little trick, if that's what they indeed decide to do.

Plus the explanation in the lettercol made a lot of sense.. obviously something has to shake up the Han Solo-Leia dynamic in the comic or else things would get stale between them pretty quick.

Kind of a cool idea. I'm sure they're divorced though. I'm wondering how strictly Disney is being with Marvel on this series. I remember reading several articles about how Marvel used to have to submit all their stories to Lucasfilm for approval during volume 1. It would be interesting to know the dynamics this time around. We can only assume all these stories are now canon.

I think that would be correct. The current Marvel comics, along with the novels since "A New Dawn" are overseen by The Lucasfilm Story Group, and individuals from that group are credited in the current comics. The idea is that all these things work together and that it is all canon. I would imagine when the idea of Han's wife was presented, Aaron (or the editor, if it wasn't Aaron's idea) had to have a way for that character to fit into (and an exit out of) the saga for it to get approved.
