"As debate already rages over whether Ross resigned or was fired, so too does speculation regarding his possible successor. According to The New York Times, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and DreamWorks Studios CEO Stacey Snider are likely contenders."

Anyone that can allow a 250+ million dollar movie to be made with close to zero effort placed on marketing said movie and apparently no oversight deserves whatever he gets. Most CEOs are involved with things costing $100-200k, let alone $250mil.

I think I'm behind on some news. What's all this?

Well the short story is that he inherited John Carter (and some other things) from the previous guy and he either purposefully sloughed them off because they weren't "his" or else he was just completely inept and failed to ensure any sort of proper marketing was done for the film which cost around $200-250million to make and undisclosed but probably that amount again on other costs. So with most likely 500 million in it he allowed the ball to be dropped entirely and Disney is having to write off like 200+ million on it as a loss. There is no board in existence that would just let that go.
