Hasbro Connected Cinematic Universe | Good Idea? Or Bad Idea?

Just announced: following the 'success' of the DCEU and MCU, there is a plan in the works for the creation of an interconnected onscreen universe featuring Hasbro’s G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries, M.A.S.K., and ROM brands with writers Michael Chabon, Brian K. Vaughan, and many more onboard.

I have to say, I like the writing staff. Of course, it will greatly depend on the directors they get. But they have, outside of G.I. Joe, a tabula rasa to work with here. Most of these properties have a very limited following, so they'll be able to shake things up—and with Rom and Micronauts, they’ll have to, since so much of those characters’ histories are unuseable.

Are the Micronaut designs still under licence from Takara Tomy? And does Dynamic Pro get a cut from the designs based on Steel Jeeg?

    Visionaries!!!
  • I guess I get it, right? Hasbro wants to take their IPs to the next level and create an entertainment brand out of them. And they got a really impressive roster to work on this. I hope it's successful. I just kinda don't care. I'm already over the "MCU" approach to movie making, except in the MCU. I just want to watch movies that hold up on their own, and don't need to be building toward something inevitably disappointing.

I sort of feel like, especially in live action, this will be as camp as Christmas, as my Scottish friend sometimes says. But, what the hell, I would see it.

I'm still holding out for Keanu Reeves to return to the role of Johnny Utah & essentially be the replacement character for Brian/Paul Walker in the Fast/Furious franchise!
