Saladino was one of the best letterers and logo designers the comics industry has ever known. He had a very organic style that considered the tone and themes of the books he worked on, and he was the first to create a character-specific font—the rough, dripping font used for the dialogue of
Swamp Thing’s titular star. Letterers often get overlooked in comics, but Saladino was one of those who made the books he worked on that much more enjoyable to read.

Wow. Rest in peace Mr Saladino. http://alchetron.com/Gaspar-Saladino-385418-W#-
I always recognize his name in the credits boxes of my older comics. He just HAD to have his own special lettering credit flourish. lol. Him and Todd Klein. The only letterers I know by name.
He was a letterer on the Wild Dog stories for a bit in Action Comics Weekly. I'll be certain to remember to drop in a small tribute to the man in the next episode of the ACW Podcast.
Rest in peace.
