R.I.P. Gaspar Saladino (1927-2016)

Saladino was one of the best letterers and logo designers the comics industry has ever known. He had a very organic style that considered the tone and themes of the books he worked on, and he was the first to create a character-specific font—the rough, dripping font used for the dialogue of Swamp Thing’s titular star. Letterers often get overlooked in comics, but Saladino was one of those who made the books he worked on that much more enjoyable to read.
