Awesome! I've been a lapsed Dredd fan for a while. Local shop doesn't carry any of the Dredd floppies or 2000AD mags. May need to figure out where to start on the trades to get caught up.
Seriously, this storyline is amazing. Unpredictable. fantastic script and amazing art by Henry Flint and Colin MacNeill. As a huge 2000ad fan and Dredd fanatic i cant see how this epic can be topped. I fear the worst for Mega City One and for Dredd. This strip will never be the same again...and there will be no retcons. It's not the 2000ad way.
And the Dark Judges sans Death are back...with a serious, no-Bullshit vengeance. I don't even think Dredd himself can survive this.
I'll have to check but it's been an ongoing build up for the last 40 issues or so...and we haven't even got to the actual 'Day of Chaos'. I'll do some research and let you know when it began.
Seriously though, I don't think I've been this excited about a comic book since..well..since..I don't know when. As a comics fan, an old comc fan, you get jaded because it's the same old so-so...but, by Grud this series is amazing.
Not only is Dredd good...but Pat Mills 'Flesh'(Marshall law) is all kinds of crazy and the artwork on 'Zaucer of Zilk' by Brendan (Reboot, spiderman:fever, Mad Max: Thunder road, Highlander II)McCarthy is amazing.
I do the 2000ad podcast and have Torchsong as a regular guest. He can vouch for how good Dredd and 2000ad is these days.
As a Dredd fan, Mike...drop a title or two and get 2000ad and the Meg through clickwheel. Guaranteed you won't miss your 'Big Two' comics. 2000ad is going through a second Golden Age IMO.
ComicbookDB shows the Day of Chaos storyline starting in 1743, we're on 1780 now. There was a P.J.Maybe story before that which was also part of the set up.

I subscribed and it worked well until I got issued a new debit card, at which point there's no way to update payment details so it just failed and couldn't be resurrected.
And 2 or 3 emails to the support address garnered absolutely no responses.
Apparently there has been an issue with subscribers delivery, and the latest issue won't be waiting for me on my return home from work. Seriously pissed at that, because thgis story line has been amazing. And Dredd isn't even my favourite 2000AD character!
