DCAU is playing favorites with their robins

The DCAU seems to utterly ignore Tim's existence and only acknowledges Jason in Under the Red Hood. I get that they aren't bringing Steph in as a Robin (I preferred her as The Spoiler when she was introduced to the comics and her stint as Robin was too short to be considered a Robin). However, there are other Robins besides Damian Al Ghul Wayne. It irritated me when they tried to shoe horn him into Justice League vs. Teen Titans because his trial run with the Teen Titans was a failure and the closest he came to bonding with the Titans was with Ravager (Rose Wilson, the daughter of Slade Wilson). He left giving the impression that the only friend he needed was Dick Grayson. The handling of that project and its unfaithfulness left a bitter taste in my mouth.

It's a tough call. Dick Grayson will always be the standard by which all other Robins are measured...for now. DC I think is heavily invested in making Damien the Robin for a new generation of comic readers and those who get their superhero stories via animated cartoons.

Tim will always be the "popular vote" guy. Everyone loves him, but he's never going to get any respect, sadly. He's stuck in between the legacy of Dick Grayson and the determinedness of DC to make Damien Wayne work. Jason Todd is kind of his own beast now, and as you said, Stephanie is kind of an afterthought.
  • It's still upsetting to my soul that they did this, both forcing Damien upon those who wish to watch the DCAU and their sheer unfaithfulness to their own material. It's one thing to change material to reflect more modern views as opposed to the views that belonged to it's publication date, it's a whole different issue when they are messing with the character. The issue of Teen Titans where Damien joins was not meant to show Damien as belonging to the Titans, no matter what the rest of the world wants to shove down our throats. He did not have a great desire to belong there. Damien also wasn't the Boy Wonder during the time in which these events transpired.
