I'm not going to link to it because quite frankly they don't deserve it. But there's a Facebook group encouraging people to give Black Panther, Infinity War and Solo negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The reason is that Disney has been mistreating fanboys and its franchises.

I’ll post the link to an article about it getting shut down:
I can’t stress this enough: WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!!! I hope this is more neo-Nazis (“alt-right” is as ridiculous a term as “undocumented”) narrowminded idiots then actual DC fans. Especially since the DCEU has shown to be diverse in its casting. I stopped going to a DC-prime forum because of the negative (partly because the Disney hate is a huge dark cloud), but it wouldn’t surprise me if some of that site’s members were part of the estimated 3700 mentioned in the article.
This is the ridiculous bullshit that’s had me pull back from social media in the past year.
It won't be. And it shouldn't be. Marvel's first black director after 17 movies. Finally featuring a non-white lead. With a large representative cast. You bet it should be more than just "oh that's a great movie".
People like to use the (tired) excuse of "Jobs should be given to the person most deserving of job". Sometimes the reason why that's such bs is because sometimes jobs should given to a person that will come to a project with a new voice, a new idea, a new viewpoint exactly because of WHO they are, not just because of their skills. Art - commercial or otherwise- is honed by a person's experience. And there are large demographics of people who are tired of white men telling stories. They've been doing that since movies first were being made. People will survive when one or two super-hero movies are told by - and celebrated for - someone other.
I'm all for hearing from people with different experience's than mine. And that's why Wonder Woman and Black Panther (and Black Lightning and Get Out) are more than just "great movies/TV".
I think it’s part of the story, but shouldn’t be the whole story. Then it just becomes a political tool like Edwin Jackson, spouses of the Benghazi soldiers, Trump’s women, & Bill Clinton’s women have. I think when everything becomes funneled through political agendas, it muddies the water & undermines what gets used. I think it can stall progression at times.
I’d hate for this to get twisted into a political agenda like so many other things have over the last couple years.
I don’t doubt Coogler is going to add a taste to this movie, as Jenkins did with Wonder Woman, that Spielberg could never do even when his stuff was good.
At the end of the day you make a good film or tv show and studios will be more receptive to fund these projects going forward.
I think if TDK tanked, Nolan is still trying to get Inception made. Maybe even Interstellar.
I was thinking more movies with Black Panther and Wonder Woman etc
Oh. I was thinking in general terms. That’s actually why I pay no never mind to awards. A writer might hit a homerun with one script, opening doors for him/her, then have a string of swinging strikes.
You’re right, though. The reason the Black Widow movie never came to fruition in the early ‘00s was because Elektra & Catwoman tanked. The success of WW & (presumably) Black Panther keeps the trend of diversity.

I’ve been watching more clips for this movie and agree with Michael B. Jordan; Killmonger/T’Challa is similar to Magneto/Xavier. Much like since First Class, where I’ve been more interested in watching Magneto (brilliantly played by Fassbender), I’m more interested in Killmonger in this movie then Black Panther. I rarely feel this way, but that interest is more because of the actor then the character. Jordan looks to steal this movie from Boseman...though I’m sure Chadwick is going to bring his A performance also.
I think the piece not only succeeds in putting the character in a context for a general audience that may not know the history of the character, but also does a great job of going into why, beyond just being a really great looking and successful superhero movie, it will also be, for some audience members in particular, representation that will matter. Including talking to a number of people who have worked on, or currently work on, the character in the comics.
“Wakanda represents this unbroken chain of achievement of black excellence that never got interrupted by colonialism,” Narcisse said.”
Damn. That part should be so obvious that it really stuck out reading that article. How many times do we hear that people are tired of reading about the Angry Young Black Man trope? Or the Magical Negro trope? Finally, here’s an unexplored angle that arrives in celebration because this story isn’t filtered through or for the white lens. An unfettered exploration of a people that rose to power - and surpassed - all others. As told by the people who should be telling it.
Man, Snipes must have a little hard feelings about Black Panther. Not only did he lobby to play the character way back when, Now people are forgetting about Blade.
