bored again, there was some tracing with some layers for the lettering on the ipad this time, which is why it's marginally better than when i try on my own
sorry i haven't kept with the theme yet, just enjoying drawing
OK, by the skin of my teeth! I even got stuck at work so this was with a regular old No. 2 pencil because it was all I had. I was afraid I wasn't going to show up to my own thread!

Nice looks like the cover of one of the first issues of the Savage Dragon comics.
@dubbat138, yes, Savage Dragon #1 cover. It is one of my absolute favorite comic pages and TSD was one of my main attractions to comics when I started to get serious about comics at a younger age. If I'd had more time I would have loved to have done a few key panels from Spawn, Pitt, Maxx, and GI Joe.
This month was brutal with a big work project, three commissioned pieces, and a baby. :)

Yeah I read SD for the first 50 or 60 issues then quit. Been slowly getting caught up over the past few years.
I love how you were young when that comic came out. I want to say I was around 19 and was in my second year in the army. It is like when I hear my oldest son refer to bands from the late 80s as Oldies. Makes me chuckle.
@dubbat138, not that young, I was probably 14-15, but it was when I really got serious about comics and collecting. I loved the darker, grittier, glossy look of the Image stuff at the time and stuff like Dark Horse, Mirage, Valiant, etc. :)

Ahh ok. See I started getting into comics when I was 5 back in the late 70s and besides 2 short breaks have never really stopped reading them.
My first comics were in the early 80's (GI Joe, Hulk, Spiderman, etc.) but I was truly a kid then and I didn't religiously read any comic I mostly just bought one or two here and there and that was it. At 14-15 I really began to follow stories and characters and collect seriously... bags boards etc.
Very cool that you still own your first comic! I recently bought a NM GI Joe #1 to frame since my original is lost to the hands of time. It hangs above my desk and makes me smile every time I look at it though.

See by the time I was in second grade I was subscribing through the mail to about 5 comics. I know Marvel Tales,Marvel team up and Uncanny X-men were 3 of them. By the time I was 10 I discovered my first comic shop and started buying comic boxes, bags and boards.
I realise it is not May any more... but what the hell... the only thing on TV is the boring Diamond Jubilee celebrations... so I'd thought do a sketch of the best panel from the first issue of the best Marvel comic at the moment, Daredevil. I'm not sure how to upload the jpeg into this message (could someone inform me how please?) So here is a link to it.
@Brendan_Pickett Great work! and better late than never! I have a new June thread posted and it is an open sketch month so it can be comic or non-comic related. I plan to do a couple panels that I couldn't make time for in May. Thanks for adding this and the new Daredevil run is insanely good.

It's 'Carter' from 2000ads 'Flesh' strip.
Really need to get some 2000ad goodness.
I love Reid Fleming. He needs to make a comeback.
