Headed up to Boston for a long week. If my schedule allows, I want to visit the shop of one of members (or from the former forum). Was it the Freaky Tiki? Can someone give me the name of the shop or a link to their webpage.
They often have some really great sale material. As one of the employees explained it, because they are so small and bring in so much new stock, they are often rotating out old stock at deep discounts. I remember getting a few bundles of back issues for pretty good prices. And seeing some books there that I'd never seen before. They have really nice displays.
Tiki - I don't know if my schedule will allow, but I'd love to see the shop. Not only to see your product selection, but the architect in me wants to see how you've laid it out as a retail space. If I get in, I'll make sure to ask for you.
I'll vouch for Comicopia, too. Haven't been in a few years, but I've never had a bad experience there. Friendly staff, great selection (especially if you like indie books), and I always left with something cool.
Million Year Picnic, out Cambridge way, is cool, too, but the staff there was always a lot snootier, I thought.
I hear good things about Comicazi, too, but I've never been there.
I'm not collecting or even reading comics anymore. So Million Year Picnic isn't even on my radar. I have been there several times over the years (first time in 1977). I wasn't impressed with their selection when I was there in 2004. But by then my collecting was focused on completing my silver age runs.
That basically describes 90% of comic shops these days. Back issues are nothing but $1 bins filled with bulk comics of the last 30 year. :(
I am more interested in Comicopia to see how they have themselves organized as a retailer. Having read how Tiki does his shop, I am really intrigued. B-)

Looks like its in the back bay, which is great. We are going to be in that area, just not sure about time.
