NOBLE CAUSES & DYNAMO 5

Last week I read NEAR DEATH VOLUME 1 (Jay Faerber / Simone Guglielmini). Very enjoyable mix of 'My Name is Earl' and Brubakers 'Criminal'. Is Faerber's 'Noble Causes' & 'Dynamo 5' worth checking out ?

Faerber's main current project is 'Near Death'. Dynamo 5 & Noble Causes are both concluded.

What is Faerber doing now? Noble Causes is done right? I haven't seen Dynamo 5 for a while . . .
He was writing for the cancelled CW show "Ringer". I am not sure what he is going to do now. I am not sure the numbers justified doing another Dynamo 5 book especially with him getting work elsewhere.

  • Both books are great...both the writing and the art!

Faerber is a nice dude too. Met him at Image Expo this year.

I've only read the first D5 trade and that was really, really good.

Noble Causes is good too. However there is a bit of a reality shift early on that has always soured the series for me.

Faerber is great. He's a regular at the Emerald City Con, but I think he's moved from the area now.

Dynamo 5 is good old-fashioned comic books, but I think he started to run out of ideas towards the end. Noble Causes really embraced the soap opera element and I loved that. You can tell his heart is really in the crime stories, though. I'm thrilled Near Death is not only doing so well, but is also so fun.

I LOVED Noble Causes, and to a lesser extent Dynamo 5. I was really disappointed to see them both go.

Crime books aren't my thing, though, so I've not read Near Death.
