There's no doubt Dio had a better voice, but the iconic "frontman" of Black Sabbath is Osbourne. The two eras are very difficult to compare, the band really had two distinct lives, but my favorite albums are unquestionably 'Mob Rules' and 'Heaven and Hell'. So I go with Ronnie James Dio.

Heaven & Hell is my favorite too. Honestly I came to metal later in life. In high school I got sidetracked by bands like The Cure and the Ramones and headed down an alternative/punk route. So I was probably 30 before Sabbath even blipped on my radar and at that point Dio seemed the obvious choice as far as talent goes. Having said that though Dio very rarely wins this matchup. Ozzie just has the iconic status stacked in his favor.
RJD is the better man and perhaps more genuinely tallented. However; Ozzy has more memorable tunes that I enjoy and will listen to more often today. More a fan of Ozzys later stuff.
I have no choice but to pick Ozzy, its the only Sabbath that I successfully snuck past my mom. I like RJD's music outside of Sabbath, and it is a crime that I have not gone back to listen to Dio's Sabbath. I'll get on that today.
I love Ozzy Sababth but I've really gotten into RJD and 'Dio' instead.
I tend to think that Dio was more lyrical than Ozzy. Plus I managed to see the 'Heaven & Hell'/Dio Black Sabbath concert a few years ago which was really awesome. Just wished I'd gotten to see a pure Dio concert before he passed on.
Plus Dio has a Tenacious D song named after him. Take that Ozzy!

Not that Dio didn't rock but Ozzy is still the best imho.

Well then I am a sinner. I have never cared for Dio at all.
Finally a poll just for me.
Got to go with the Holy Diver himself, Dio!

Ride the tiger. You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
