Honestly, I've never heard of this guy. And lighten up.
Lanky British dude, playing the voice of the dragon in the new Hobbit movie. And yeah, Jamfeb has it right, he plays Holmes in the Sherlock series. Eccentric Doctor Who sort of portrayal of the character.
I don't see him as the seething genetically superior Kahn, though. For bubbling rage and revenge Benicio Del Toro is pretty perfect.
Hmmm, I really like Del Toro, he would make a pretty good Khan, but I will have to check out Cumberbatch's work.
@WetRats - I agree, mostly due to the fact that this is a different Star Trek. In the original series Kirk and Khan had some background, there was history there that warranted Khan being a movie villian. With this new Trek that will not be the case.

And I'm sure the United Global Geekdom will make sure that nobody will forget all the 1000s of "facts" <:-P
I would also rather them go with a new character rather than re-doing an old one.
But that said, if they are going to do Khan again, I would rather the actor be as different as possible from the original. And while both Del Toro and Cumberbatch are very different than Montalban, I think that, energy-wise, Cumberbatch is more different.
For me it is the same with the Superman reboot. I would rather it not be Zod again, but if you are going to go with Zod, I am glad that in Michael Shannon they have not only an incredible actor, but also one who couldn't be more different from Terrence Stamp.

Del Toro without question.

No Khan!
Uninspired idea.
